Red Wine Stain Removal

Carpet-Cleaning Guide to Red Wine Stain Removal

It is considered to many the ultimate carpet accident. Imagine this: you settle down for the evening with a nice glass of red wine and a novel or movie. As you go to grab for your glass, you misjudge its location, knocking the glass of wine over spilling the contents onto your carpet. National Floors Direct recognizes the anxiety (and panic) that such an accident inspires. That is why we have put together a short carpet-cleaning guide to rid your prizes flooring of such accidents.

The most common initial response weapon in your arsenal should be club soda. The carbonation in club soda will act quickly to help lift the stain from the fibers. When combined with salt, club soda will temporarily keep the wine from setting in until you figure out another method of response.

Another useful tool to fight red wine spills is wine itself. Where this may come as a surprise to many, white wine reacts immediately to neutralize red wine, making it easier to lift the stains from the carpet fibers. Pour white wine over the stained area while gently blotting the liquid up with a towel. Be extremely careful not to smear the liquid. Once the majority of the spill has been lifted, your stained area is prepped for a more traditional method.

Scotchquard's Oxy Carpet Cleaner is an excellent solution to lift stains from your carpet providing further stain protection in the process. Wine Away is also a great stain-fighting weapon to have in your cabinet. This product has been tested and recommended by the Good Housekeeping Institute and has been endorse by Gourmet magazine.

Remember, if you do spill red wine on your carpet, do not panic. The time you use to panic is valuable time you could be using to attack the stain. Simple follow the guide above and National Floors will have your carpet looking as good as new.
