Cleaning Your Ceramic Floors

How To Address Cleaning Ceramic Floors

Traditionally, ceramic flooring has been used in bathrooms, laundry room, and other areas of the home that frequently get wet. One misconception about ceramic floors is that they only come in bland colors and finishes. This is the exact opposite. Ceramic flooring is synonymous with beauty, elegance, and durability. Since ceramic tile can be a bit of an investment, it is important to keep it looking as new as possible, lasting for as long as possible.

Ceramic is constantly inundated with damp conditions, making it susceptible to dirt and mildew. Dirty ceramic floors, especially unglazed tiles, should be met with a combination of hot water and a mild detergent. The hot water will help loosen the dirt while the detergent will capture any substances left behind. For spills and stain, you can use a soft sponge or mop. A soft bush can also help get stubborn stains loose. Never use steel wool or metal brushes. The make-up of these tools will forever damage your floors.

If the grout between the tiles becomes stained or discolored the issue can be addressed by preparing a simple home solution. Prepare a bleach solution (3 parts bleach to 1 part water). Use a soft sponge or old toothbrush to work the solution into the surface of the grout. Simple wipe the solution away with the sponge. The grout should be left looking bright. Rust stains and calcium stains can be removed a lot easier than you may think. Commercial cleaners for rust stains can be found readily at home supply stores. When applying the solution to the affected area be sure to use rubber gloves. Again a sponge or old toothbrush can be used to remove the stains.

National Floors Direct's number one priority is to make sure our customers are happy and continue to be happy with the flooring they have chosen. Sticking to the above cleaning guide will help your ceramic tile floors looking brand new.
