Professional Flooring Installation – Free With Purchase

Professional Flooring Installation by National Floors Direct

At National Floors Direct, we don’t just sell flooring — we install it. Every flooring purchase includes professional installation by our certified crews, so you’re not managing separate contractors, coordinating schedules, or worrying about warranty claims falling through the cracks between the retailer and the installer. Everything is handled by one team, backed by one warranty, from your free in-home estimate to the moment we walk out the door with your new floors installed and your old flooring hauled away.

Our installation service covers homes across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast/Florida, and Texas markets. We offer next-day professional installation on the largest selection of in-stock name-brand carpet & flooring products in America — a scheduling window that most flooring retailers can’t match. And every installation is covered by our lifetime installation guarantee, meaning that if anything goes wrong with the installation itself over the life of the floor, we come back to make it right.

What We Install

National Floors Direct handles installation for every major flooring category. Each product type has its own installation requirements, techniques, and considerations — and our crews are certified across all of them.

Carpet Installation

Our installation service covers homes across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast/Florida, and Texas markets. We offer next-day professional installation on the largest selection of in-stock name-brand carpet & flooring products in America — a scheduling window that most flooring retailers can’t match. And every installation is covered by our lifetime installation guarantee, meaning that if anything goes wrong with the installation itself over the life of the floor, we come back to make it right.

Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) and Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) Installation

Most LVP and LVT products install as floating floors using click-lock joint systems — no glue, no nails. Our installers handle the subfloor  smoothing, moisture barrier installation where required, precise cutting around door frames and cabinets, and expansion gap management. LVP installations typically complete in a single day for most rooms. We install products across the LVP category including SolidTech, CoreTec, PureTech, and Lifeproof-style rigid-core products.

Laminate Flooring Installation

Modern laminate — including waterproof lines like Mohawk’s RevWood and Pergo Extreme — installs similarly to LVP: floating floor with click-lock joints. Our installers manage subfloor prep, underlayment installation, and the precise plank cuts required for professional-looking edges around doorways, transitions, and irregular room shapes. Laminate installation typically completes in one day per room.

Hardwood Flooring Installation

Hardwood installation is more involved than most other flooring types. Depending on the product (solid vs. engineered) and subfloor, hardwood may be nailed down, glued down, or floated. Solid hardwood requires acclimation time to the home’s humidity level before installation to prevent post-install expansion or contraction. Our hardwood installers manage acclimation, moisture testing, subfloor preparation, and the specific nailing or gluing technique required for each product type.

Tile Installation

Tile installation — porcelain, ceramic, natural stone — is the most labor-intensive flooring installation type. It requires subfloor leveling to strict tolerances, waterproof membrane installation in wet areas (bathrooms, laundry rooms), precise tile cutting for edges and irregular spaces, grout application, and cure time before the space can be walked on. Our tile crews are certified for both floor and wall installations.

Our Installation Process

Every National Floors Direct installation follows the same seven-step process, whether you’re installing carpet in a single bedroom or replacing every floor in your home.

Free in-home estimate. A NFD representative measures your rooms, discusses product options, and provides transparent pricing before any commitments.

Product selection. Choose from our full product catalog with samples we can bring to your home.

Scheduling. Most installations can be scheduled within days of purchase; in many metros we offer next-day installation.

Furniture moving and old flooring removal. Our crews handle both — you don’t need to prep the space.

Subfloor preparation. Leveling, patching, moisture testing as required for the specific flooring type.

Installation. Product-specific installation performed by certified crews.

Cleanup and walkthrough. All debris removed, furniture moved back into place, and a final walkthrough with you to confirm the work meets our standards. NFD even offers interior painting services for baseboard trims & ¼ round moldings, door jambs, and other interior surfaces to promote a premium, finished look.

What’s Included in Your Installation

With most competing flooring retailers, installation is either a separate line-item cost, contracted out to a third party, or comes with fine-print exclusions that add up quickly. Our approach is different:

Professional installation labor — included with your flooring purchase

Furniture moving (standard household furniture)

Old flooring removal and haul-away

Standard subfloor preparation

Transitions between flooring types (where required)

Cleanup and debris removal

Lifetime installation warranty

Some situations require additional services at an added cost — for example, extensive subfloor repair, hazardous material abatement (if legacy asbestos-containing materials are discovered), or moving of piano-class furniture. Any such foreseeable requirements are identified and priced during your in-home estimate before work begins. No surprises.

Flooring Installation Cost

Because our installation is included with flooring purchase, the answer to “how much does flooring installation cost?” is different when you buy from National Floors Direct versus buying materials separately and hiring an installer.

Traditional installation cost (materials + separate installer)

If you purchase flooring materials from a big-box retailer or wholesaler and hire a separate installer, national averages for installation-only costs run:

Carpet installation: $2.50 to $4.00 per square foot for labor only

Vinyl plank installation: $3.50 to $6.00 per square foot

Laminate installation: $3.50 to $6.00 per square foot

Hardwood installation: $4.50 to $8.00 per square foot

Tile installation: $9.00 to $15.00 per square foot

Installation cost with National Floors Direct

Because installation is included with your flooring purchase, you’re paying for the flooring and everything required to install it — not a separate installation quote. The all-in cost typically works out to less than the sum of buying materials separately and hiring a contractor, especially once you factor in furniture moving, old flooring removal, and cleanup services that separate installers usually charge extra for.

Your free in-home estimate provides exact pricing for your specific project. Because pricing depends on the flooring product, room dimensions, subfloor condition, and any special requirements, we don’t post a single per-square-foot number — but we do commit to transparent, written pricing before any work begins, with our Low Price Guarantee: if you find a lower comparable quote, we’ll beat it or the flooring is free.

Installation Timeline

Timing varies by product and room size. Typical timelines for a single average-sized room (150-250 sq ft):

Carpet: 3-5 hours

LVP / LVT: 4-6 hours

Laminate: 4-6 hours

Hardwood: 1-2 days (plus acclimation time)

Tile: 1-2 days (plus 24-hour cure time before use)

Whole-home installations of 1,000-2,000 square feet typically complete in 2-5 days depending on flooring type. Larger jobs are broken into phases if needed so you’re never without functional living space.

Next-Day Installation

NFD offers next-day installation throughout our service regions for all in-stock products. This is unusually fast for the flooring industry — most retailers quote 3-8 weeks from purchase to installation. If speed matters (kitchen renovation timing, moving into a new home, insurance-driven replacement), next-day installation availability can be a significant advantage.

Installation Warranty

Every National Floors Direct installation is backed by our lifetime installation guarantee. This is separate from — and in addition to — the product manufacturer’s warranty on the flooring itself.

The lifetime installation guarantee covers issues that arise from the installation itself: seams that separate, planks that lift or shift, tiles that crack from subfloor movement, or carpet that develops wrinkles from improper stretching. If any of these occur due to installation, we return to correct the issue at no cost — for as long as you own the home.

What this means practically: with most flooring retailers and installers, the manufacturer’s warranty covers the product, but installation warranties expire after 30 days to 2 years. Beyond that window, installation problems become your problem. With NFD, the installation warranty never expires.

Frequently Asked Questions About Flooring Installation

How much does flooring installation cost?

With National Floors Direct, installation is included with flooring purchase — you pay for the flooring and everything needed to install it, not a separate installation quote. All-in project costs depend on product, room size, and any special requirements, and are quoted transparently during your free in-home estimate. Traditional installation-only costs (if you buy materials separately and hire a contractor) range from $2.50/sq ft for carpet to $15/sq ft for tile.

How long does flooring installation take?

A single average-sized room typically takes 3-6 hours for carpet, LVP, or laminate, and 1-2 days for hardwood or tile. Whole-home installations complete in 2-5 days depending on product and square footage. Hardwood and tile require additional time for acclimation and cure. We provide a specific timeline during your in-home estimate.

Can you install flooring next day?

Yes. Next-day installation is available on in-stock products. This is unusual in the flooring industry where most retailers quote 2-6 weeks between purchase and installation. Product availability varies by location; your in-home estimate will confirm what’s available for next-day installation in your area.

Do you move furniture during installation?

Yes. Standard household furniture moving is included with our installation service. You don’t need to pre-empty the room. Extra-large or specialty items (pianos, oversized safes, heavy home gym equipment) may incur additional charges — these are identified and quoted during your in-home estimate.

Do you remove and haul away old flooring?

Yes. Old carpet, vinyl, laminate, hardwood, and tile removal is included with our installation service. All debris is hauled away — we leave your home cleaner than we found it.

What warranty comes with National Floors Direct installation?

Our lifetime installation guarantee covers any installation-related issue (seams, lifting, wrinkling, cracking due to subfloor movement) for as long as you own your home. This is separate from and in addition to the manufacturer’s warranty on the flooring product itself.

Do you install flooring you didn’t sell?

Our installation service is included with purchase of flooring from National Floors Direct — we don’t currently offer installation-only services for flooring purchased elsewhere. This lets us guarantee the full product-plus-installation combination under one warranty.
